Anaxagoras (crater)

50.99

Anaxagoras is an impact crater on the moon high in the north on the lunar front side. He overlaid the older crater Goldschmidt in the east. Further to the southeast lies the crater Barrow. The crater is relatively young, has a ray system and the crater edge is hardly eroded. Inside is a central mountain.

The crater was named in 1935 by the IAU by the Greek philosopher and astronomer Anaxagoras.
