Ancamna

Ancamna is a Gallo-Roman water and spring - goddess of Celtic mythology, who was worshiped especially in parts of the Moselle Valley, Trier (Augusta Treverorum, temple district Irminenwingert ) and Ripsdorf along with Mars Lenus in Möhn with Mars Smertulianus.

Mythology

Ancamnas altars in Trier the worship of Mars as other genii of Treverians were just as dedicated. It is obvious, therefore, also be seen in Ancamna a tribal deity. In the sanctuary of Möhn votive offerings for Ancamna, Mars Smertulianus and a local genius cucullatus were found. In Luxembourg, the excavators found a bronze ex voto for Inciona and Lenus Mars Veraudunus; a connection between Ancamna and Inciona is suspected, but has not been clearly proven.
