And Winter Came ... is the seventh studio album by Enya. It was released on 7 November 2008 by Warner Music.

Background

In the center of And Winter Came ... is the eponymous winter or Christmas theme. It contained besides ten pieces of English, the Irish Oíche Chiúin (Silent Night ) and Oh Come, Oh Come Emmanuel in English and Latin. Oíche Chiúin is a re- recording, the song has already been published by Enya in 1988 as the B- side of the single Evening Falls. The title song And Winter Came ... is a revised version of the song Midnight Blue from 2001. At that time the piece was a B- side of the single Wild Child. On 18 September 2008 it was announced on the official website Trains and Winter Rains as the official first single from the album. There were, however, decoupled from this album are no physical, but only digital singles.

Reception

For Allmusic, the album received three out of five stars. Allmusic critic James Christopher Monger is of the view that in his song And Winter Came orientation and subtlety an exception in Enya's work constitutes herein and the previous album Amarantine follow.

The album sold at least 1.7 million times. It reached number three on the charts in Germany.
