Andoany

Province

Andoany is a city in Madagascar. The old and still today common name of the city was Hell-Ville or Hell Ville, named after the French Admiral Anne Chrétien Louis de Hell.

It is the capital of the island of Nosy Be. It is located near the doldrums and is accordingly no wind. At its center is a large diesel generator, which occasionally supplied the island with electricity.

According to some sources, the population is 30,000, out of a total population of the island of 60,000.
