André Green

André Green ( born March 12, 1927 in Cairo, † January 22, 2012 in Paris) was a French psychoanalyst.

Life

André Green studied medicine (specializing in Psychiatry) at the Paris Medical School and worked at various hospitals. It was established in 1965 after training as a psychoanalyst, member of the Paris Psychoanalytic Society, which he chaired from 1986 to 1989. From 1975 to 1977 he was deputy chairman of the International Psychoanalytical Association and 1979/80, a professor at University College London.

André Green is the author of numerous articles and books on the theory and practice of psychoanalysis and psychoanalytic cultural and literary criticism, some of which have also been published in German translation.
