Andreas Gielchen
Andreas Gielchen ( born October 27, 1964 in Eschweiler ) is a former German football player. Gielchen lives in Langerwehe district Hamich.
Career
In 1983 he reached the juniors of the 1st FC Cologne the final of the German A Youth Championship, which was, however, lost 0-2 goals against Eintracht Frankfurt. The defender never managed long term play in the basic formation of the 1st FC Cologne, although his performances were always solid. Against the then Chief defender Paul Steiner, Gerhard Strack and Matthias Hönerbach he could not prevail. Nevertheless, he was present at one of the greatest successes of the 1st FC Cologne. 1986 UEFA Cup final against Real Madrid, but what was lost (1:5; 2:0 ). In his time, he worked with trainers such as John Loehr, George Kessler, Christoph Daum and Erich Rutemöller.
