Andrew Davis (director)

Andrew Davis ( born November 21, 1946 or the 1947 in Chicago, Illinois) is an American film director, producer and screenwriter. He was known for his action movies Nico (1988 ), Under Siege (1992) and The Fugitive ( 1993).

Life

Davis is the son of Nathan and Metta Davis, brother of Richard Davis and Jo Ellen Friedman. After completion of the Davis High School studied journalism at the University of Illinois at Urbana- Champaign. Studs Terkel, a friend of his parents, Davis recommended to Haskell Wexler, who in Chicago turned his film Medium Cool 1968. Davis worked with it as a 2nd unit cameraman and worked in the following years as a cinematographer, including for Sesame Street, and later at productions by Gene Corman and Menahem Golan.

During the filming of Jonathan Kaplan's Over the Edge (1978 ) he met his future wife Adrianne Levesque know, who worked as a costume designer.

In 1978 he made ​​his debut as a director with the musical Stony Iceland. Two years earlier he had written his first screenplay for the film Paco. In 1984 he was involved in writing the screenplay for Beat Street.

For the film on the run, he was nominated in 1994 for a Golden Globe.
