Andrew Imbrie

Andrew W. Imbrie ( born April 6, 1921 in New York City; † December 5, 2007 in Berkeley ( California)) was an American composer.

Imbrie studied at the University of California at Berkeley and was a student of Leo Ornstein, Robert Casadesus and Roger Sessions. From 1949 to 1991 he was professor at the University of California, Berkeley. Since 1970 he has also taught at the Conservatory of San Francisco.

He composed an opera, three symphonies, chamber symphony, a violin concerto, a ballad and a legend for orchestra, chamber music, a Requiem, a cantata, propers for choir and organ and songs.
