Andrey Kurbsky

Andrei Mikhailovich Kurbski (Russian: Андрей Михайлович Курбский; * 1528, † 1583 ) was a Russian prince in the service of Tsardom Russia. He was descended from the royal line of Rurik - side Kurbski.

Life

Kurbski was a close confidant and later a leading political opponent of the Russian Tsar Ivan the Terrible. His correspondence with the Czar is a unique source for the history of Russia in the 16th century.
