Androgeos

Androgeos (Greek Ἀνδρόγεως ) In Greek mythology, a son of the Cretan king Minos and Pasiphae. According to the Libraries of Apollodorus (2, 5, 9 ), he was the father of Sthenelus and Alcaeus.

The Athenian king Aegeus killed Androgeos because of this in a competition won all the prizes. Another version of the story goes that Aegeus Androgeos had sent to kill the Cretan bull, and Androgeos in an attempt to kill the bull, himself was killed. As a punishment the Athenians every nine years had seven young people to sacrifice for the Minotaur in Crete send. It was not until Theseus killed the bull, ended this practice. The story refers to the fact that the Minoan empire had temporarily occupied parts of Greece frühmykenischen, which in turn was ended by the conquest of Crete by Mycenae.
