Androsthenes of Thasos
Androsthenes of Thassos (Greek Ανδροσθένης ο Θάσιος ) was a companion of Nearchus on its voyage across the Indian Ocean 325 BC on behalf of Alexander the Great. 324/323 BC, he was sent to explore the coast of Arabia, as part of the preparation of the Arabia - campaign of Alexander, who was not performed due to the early death of the king. Androsthenes ' travelogue Παεάπλους τής Ιυδτχής has not been preserved, but some fragments are known.
