Andy Sutcliffe

Andy Sutcliffe ( born May 9, 1947 in Mildenhall, Suffolk ) is a British former racing driver, who played some single-seater racing in the 1970s in various motorsport classes. He enlisted in a Formula 1 World Championship race, failed there but at the pre-qualification.

Career

Sutcliffe is considered occasional pilots. He graduated no classic motor racing career, but took only sporadically participate in car races. A source reported that Sutcliffe was working in the 1970s, primarily as a model.

Formula 2

1973 Sutcliffe played a round of the Formula 2 Championship for the works team from March Engineering. When Kanonloppet 1973 in Karlskoga in August 1973, he lay back twelve rounds in March 732, before it failed prematurely due to an engine failure.

1974 Sutcliffe was driving a March 732 for the British team Brian Lewis Racing. Sutcliffe denied the first six races of the championship. At the opening race at Montjuïc and the Gran Premio di Mugello he finished sixth. He scored at the Grand Prix Automobile de Pau in 1974, he finished third in his best result. In six races Sutcliffe scored nine championship points. He ended the year ranked 10 in the championship.

Formula 1

In the Formula 1 1974 season, the Italian privateer team Scuderia Finotto reported a Brabham BT42 for Sutcliffe for the Grand Prix of Great Britain. The team, which had failed in the previous race in France in the qualification, however, did not appear at Brands Hatch.

Three years later, Sutcliffe was reported by the British privateer team RAM Racing for the Grand Prix of Great Britain 1977. The team was founded in 1976 occurred at a March 761 ( chassis 761/3 ), which had been used in the previous year by Ronnie Peterson and the March factory team. RAM came in 1977 primarily with the Dutch pilots Boy Hayje, the four failed to qualify in six races.
