Aneurin Bevan

Aneurin Bevan, better known as Nye Bevan, (* November 15, 1897 in Tredegar, Monmouthshire, Wales; † July 6, 1960 in London) was a British politician of the Welsh Labour Party. As founder of the National Health Service, he is in the political left Britain as a hero.

Aneurin Bevan was born to non-conformist parents. He was a member of the Liberal Party in his youth. Inspired by the Socialist writings of Robert Blatchfords, but he resigned from the party and joined the Independent Labour Party. In 1934 he married the Scottish member of Parliament, Jennie Lee.

When the Labour Party in 1945, the government formed, he became Minister of Health. The resolution adopted on July 5, 1948 Act of the National Health Service, which the British people guaranteed basic medical care is attributable to him, as he prevailed in years of wrangling against the pharmaceutical- medical lobby, which strictly opposed the law.
