Anextiomarus

Anextlomarus, also Anextiomarus, is the name of a Celtic ( salvation ) of God from Britain and Gaul.

Etymology and Locations

Anextlomarus is derived from the Old Irish anacul ( " protection" ), the name could be so " great protector " or " great as a protector " mean. In South Shields (South Tyneside ), a bronze bowl was found, on which it is equated by the interpretatio romana with Apollo. This bowl is now in the Archaeological Museum of Newcastle upon Tyne. In Suindunum (Le Mans) in the Roman province of Lugdunensis an incompletely preserved inscription has been discovered on another inscription in Aventicum ( Avenches, Switzerland ) is the female Namensvariantion Anextlomara to read (Fi 94).
