Ángel Ossorio y Gallardo

Ángel Ossorio y Gallardo ( born June 20, 1873 in Madrid, † May 19 1946 in Buenos Aires ) was a Spanish politician, lawyer and writer.

As a member of the Conservative Party ( Partido Conservador ) he was governor of Barcelona in 1909 and 1917 Minister of Development ( Fomento ). He was opposed to the dictatorship of Miguel Primo de Rivera and supported the abdication of Alfonso XIII. and the proclamation of the Second Republic. He was involved in the drafting of the Constitution of the Second Republic and Ambassador of the Spanish Republic in Belgium, France and Argentina. After the end of the Spanish Civil War, he settled permanently in Buenos Aires and down in 1945 Minister without special responsibilities in the exile government under Francisco Giral. He was president of the Academy of Jurisprudence and the Athenaeum of Madrid as well as dean of the College of Lawyers. Especially in his later years he wrote numerous works on jurisprudence and constitutional law.
