Angus Douglas-Hamilton, 15th Duke of Hamilton

Angus Alan Douglas Douglas - Hamilton, 15th Duke of Hamilton and 12th Duke of Brandon ( * September 13, 1938 in London, † 5 June 2010) was a Scottish nobleman, politician and member of the House of Lords.

Life

Angus Douglas-Hamilton was the eldest son of Douglas Douglas - Hamilton, 14th Duke of Hamilton and his wife Elizabeth Ivy Percy, a daughter of Alan Percy, 8th Duke of Northumberland. After his birth he was initially led the courtesy title Earl of Angus, then from 1940, when his father Duke (Duke ) become, Marquess of Douglas and Clydesdale. He was educated at Eton College and at the University of Oxford. He succeeded his father in 1973 as Duke of Hamilton. Due to the age of his title, which was created in 1643 for his ancestors, he was regarded as Premier Duke of Scotland in the log Aryan hierarchy.

Douglas-Hamilton served in the Royal Air Force and worked the early seventies as a test pilot. About the subsidiary title of Lord Abernethy, he held the hereditary office of the support of the Scottish crown, which he perceived at each opening of the Scottish Parliament. He also was a member of the Royal Company of Archers, the ceremonial bodyguard of the British monarch in Scotland. He was with his wife in the animal protection active.

The Duke was one of five people in the United Kingdom, which also have two ducal title, namely those of Hamilton and Brandon, which are managed jointly since 1711.

The Duke was from 1972 to 1987 first marriage with Sarah Scott, his second wife in 1988 Jillian Robertson and his third wife was since 1998, Kay Carmichael. From his first marriage he had the following children:
