Ankara Opera House

The Opera Sahnesi ( German: opera ) is the largest of the three opera houses in Ankara. It belongs to the Turkish State Theatres ( Devlet Tiyatroları ).

The building was designed by Turkish architect Şevki Balmumcu as an exhibition center. The Balmumcus project was awarded first place in the international competition to design the building in 1933., The German architect Paul Bonatz worked the building into an opera house. On April 2, 1948, the opening of the new opera house.

The building serves under the name Great Theatre ( Büyük Tiyatro ) as spoken theater stage.
