Anke Eißmann

Anke Katrin Eißmann ( * 1977 in Dillenburg ) is a German illustrator and graphic designer, among other things, by their illustrations to JRR Tolkien Fantansiewelt was known. She studied Visual Communication at the Bauhaus University in Weimar and the Colchester Institute, Colchester (England). She works full-time as an art teacher in Herborn.

Working

Eissmann first inspirations were derived from the works of JRR Tolkien, as the Silmarillion and the Lord of the Rings, from. In 2009, she announced in an interview that her first encounter with Tolkien's theme of the animated film was The Lord of the Rings by Ralph Bakshi, whom she first saw in 1991. Then she read the corresponding book by Tolkien and immediately began to read illustrate scenes. While studying in Weimar, she published her drawings on the Internet, which gave her contact with artists like Ted Nasmith. According to his own statements Eißmann further by is " the Pre-Raphaelites, book illustrators such as Arthur Rackham, Edmond Dulac, Ivan Bilibin and Alan Lee, art nouveau, artist [ s ] like Edward Hopper and Jan Vermeer " inspired.

Except with the fiction of JRR Tolkien himself Eissmann works mainly deal with mythological and historical subjects.
