Ankichi Arakaki

Ankichi Arakaki (* 1899 in the village of Akata, Province Shuri ( Okinawa ), † December 28, 1927 in Kadena, Okinawa ) was one of the most influential martial artists of the Shorin- ryu Karate and Kobudo. He was the first born of 11 children.

At a young age he began teaching karate at his primary school teachers Shinpan Gusukuma ( 1890-1954 ). Later, he was of Chomo Hanashiro (1869-1945) and Choshin Chibana (1885-1969), the founder of Kobayashi Shorin- Ryu taught.

Ankichi Arakaki was a teacher of Shoshin Nagamine, the the Matsubayashi - Ryu Karate later founded.
