Ann Way

Ann Way ( born November 14, 1915 in Wiveliscombe, Somerset, England; † March 13, 1993 in London) was a British actress.

Life

Way began her acting career in the mid 1950s. First, she played minor supporting roles in several feature films and guest roles on British television series. In the 1960s she took part in an engagement at the Dundee Repertory Theatre in Dundee, which was the beginning of a career in the theater. Later she joined, among others, at the National Theatre in London and played for example in William Shakespeare's Hamlet, Harold Pinter's No Man's Land, Victor Hugo's The Hunchback of Notre -Dame, Franz Kafka's The Metamorphosis, and Edgar Allan Poe's The Fall of the House of Usher.

During her film and television career, she worked several times together with former Monty Python members. First, she was seen in a cameo in John Cleese TV series Fawlty Towers, after she had roles in Terry Gilliam films Jabberwocky and Brazil, as well as in Clockwise - Well done, Mr. Stimpson with John Cleese in the lead role. The German public is most likely known by her portrayal of Miss Smith in the British television film Little Lord Fauntleroy, which is repeated every year at Christmas time.
