Anna Gottlieb

Maria Anna Josepha Francisca Gottlieb ( born April 29, 1774 Vienna, † February 4, 1856 ibid ) was an Austrian soprano and the first Pamina in Mozart's Magic Flute.

Life

Anna Gottlieb was born as one of four daughters of an actor couple. At the age of five she had her first public appearance. At twelve, she played the Barbarina in Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's opera The Marriage of Figaro.

The age of fifteen, she sang the role of Amande in Paul Wranitzky opera Oberon, King of the Elves ( in the title role of Mozart's sister in law, who became Queen of the Night Josepha Hofer, led Anna into society ). A first engagement was at Emanuel Schikaneder's Theater auf der Wieden, where they usually occurred in singing games (eg Nadine in The Philosopher's Stone ). 1791, when seventeen years old, Mozart chose her for the role of Pamina in The Magic Flute from his, and this was their biggest success.

1792 she joined the theater in Leopoldstadt, where she performed until 1828. Her biggest success came in the Donauweibchen Ferdinand Kauer piece. Between 1809 and 1813 she retired because of the Napoleonic Wars temporarily from the stage, but then her voice was no longer what it used to be. 1828, she was dismissed from the theater. On February 4, 1856 Anna Gottlieb died at the age of 82 years. She remained unmarried all his life. Her grave is located on the St. Marx Cemetery ( grave No. 4032 ) in Vienna highway.
