Anna Maria Crouch

Anna Maria Crouch ( born April 20, 1763October 2, 1805 in Brighton ) was an English actress and soprano, and beloved of the Prince of Wales, later King George IV

Life

Anna Maria was still a child on the stage; her signature role was the Polly Peachum in The Beggar's Opera. In 1784 she married Mr. Crouch, and led from 1787 to harmonize with the Irish actor and musician Michael Kelly ( 1762-1826 ). 1790 she came to play to Brighton to the Duke Street Theatre. Here she met the Prince Regent George ( IV ) ( 1762-1830 ) know and love. The connection did not last long, but he financed it for some years. Anna Maria Crouch died on October 2, 1805 in Brighton and was buried in the graveyard of St. Nicholas' Church in Brighton.
