Anna Sophie of Anhalt

Anna Sophia von Anhalt ( born June 15, 1584 Dessau, † June 9, 1652 in Upper Kranichfeld ) was a daughter of Prince Joachim Ernst von Anhalt and his second wife Eleonore von Württemberg.

Life

Anna Sophia married on June 13, 1613 in Rudolstadt Count Karl Günther von Schwarzburg- Rudolstadt. The marriage remained childless.

Anna Sophia was considered one of the most educated women of her time. She was the sister of Prince Ludwig I of Anhalt- Köthen, one of the founders of the fruit -bearing Society. After the death of her husband in 1630 she moved the residence to Crane field and founded in 1619 an accessible only for women Tugendliche society. As a supporter of the school and church being granted it in Kranichfeld the educators Wolfgang Ratke asylum and support.
