Anne Frank Zentrum

The Anne Frank Center in Berlin is the German partner organization of the Anne Frank House in Amsterdam. By dealing with the life of Anne Frank, it promotes the memory of the crimes of National Socialism and to the Embassy of her diary.

History

The foundation goes back to an initiative from the year 1994, when the traveling exhibition "The World of Anne Frank. 1929-1945 was prepared "in Berlin. On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the liberation of the Nazi regime, it was shown in six districts. On the basis of that association, which was created specifically for the exhibition and presentation, they wanted to continue the commitment to the issues raised. After the conclusion of a cooperation agreement with the Anne Frank House in Amsterdam was on 12 June 1998, the Anne Frank Center in Berlin -Mitte, Rosenthalerstraße 39 are opened.

Permanent exhibition in Berlin

Since November 2006, the Anne Frank Center is the permanent exhibition " Anne Frank. here & now ", which was realized thanks to the aforementioned cooperation. It tells the life story of Anne Frank and places them in the context of that time. With documents, objects, pictures and movies to the visitors an insight into the world of the young writer will be given.

In addition, young people from Berlin to speak, that deal with topics which were Anne Frank employs in her diary, such as identity, values, but also war and civil courage.

Traveling exhibitions

In addition to the permanent exhibition offers the Anne Frank Zentrum several, usually lasting four weeks traveling exhibitions, which partly aimed specifically at young people. The five different exhibitions have been shown in many communities in Germany.

Other activities

The facility offers nationwide training on intercultural competence for educators as well as on anti-Semitism for teachers. With intercultural learning materials, the center makes an important contribution to children and youth education.

Since 2011, the Anne Frank Center promotes the project " war children " intergenerational dialogue. The focus is on childhood and youth experiences of those born before 1941 generation. Youth and seniors in Neustrelitz, Saalfeld and Schwedt come together this week.

The Anne Frank Center in Berlin is one of many institutions worldwide in which Austrians can make a twelve -month memorial service instead of military or civilian service in Germany.

The Anne Frank Center USA is a member of the 2013 initiative Transparent civil society since December.
