Anseküla

Anseküla ( German Anseküll ) is a village (Estonian küla ) in the rural community of Salme on the Estonian island of Saaremaa. It has 48 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2007). The village is situated on the Baltic coast.

The place was since the 16th century the center of a parish ( Anseküla kihelkond ). 1863 there was one of the first local Estonian song festivals take place at all.

Lighthouse

The lighthouse is located on the east beach of Anseküla of Sõrve Peninsula. The construction of concrete is 29 meters high. It stands 42 meters above the sea level. The light signal is visible 7 nautical miles. In the lower part of the lighthouse is white, black at the top.

The first church was built in Anseküla in 1300, a later end of the 14th century. It was remodeled in 1864 and 1944 completely destroyed in combat. The lighthouse was built in 1953 on the site of the former church.
