AN/SPS-43

The AN/SPS-43 (also called " AN/SPS-37A " ) was a ship -based 2D air search radar room with great range. It was developed and manufactured by the U.S. company Westinghouse.

Description

Originally, the SPS -43 was designated as PLC 37A, since it is actually represented only a further development of increased antenna ( 12.8 m) and revised components. The system was introduced in 1961 and later replaced by the AN/SPS-49 so that it can be found more in an active ship in the U.S. Navy today. The radar worked with 0.2 GHz and had a maximum range of 480 km. A total of 49 systems have been delivered.
