Ant Farm (group)

Ant Farm was founded in San Francisco in 1968 by group visionary architects who were also video, performance and installation artist.

The founding members were Doug Michels, Chip Lord and Curtis Schreier. Occasionally, Douglas Hurr and Hudson Marquez worked in this group. They drew inspiration from avant-garde architects such as Richard Buckminster Fuller, Paolo Soleri and the British architects Archigram.

In 1977, works by Ant Farm at Documenta 6 in Kassel were shown.

Ant Farm disbanded in 1978, when a fire destroyed their studio at Pier 40 in San Francisco.
