Antal Szabó

Antal Szabó, Antal Steinbach ( born September 4, 1910 in Soroksár (Budapest), † April 21, 1958 ) was a Hungarian football goalkeeper, who in the 1930s, twice with the Hungaria FC Hungarian champion and with the national team in 1938 Vice world champion.

Club career

The goalie for a rather diminutive Szabó played for the Soroksári AC, from where he moved to Hungaria 1931. There he became one of the strongest Hungarian shorts men of his generation to his physical disadvantage by excellent reflexes and equalized with his game style, to organize the defense in front of him, its time it was. At the same time he also underwent occasional major errors that did not meet its performance potential.

His first track he celebrated in 1932, when the blue-white against the Ferencvárosi FC with a 4-3 in the replay brought the Cup victory. In the championship, but it should suffice for a long time only for places between two and four, and so it was not until the season 1935/36, before the Blue - White brought a championship title under the leadership of coach Alfréd Schaffer. After the Hungaria in 1940 dissolved by the Horthy regime, Szabó first moved to Weisz Manfréd Csepel FC and was then still the Lampart FC and the Szentlőrinci AC worked.

In 1956 he left Hungary and died in Germany two years later.

National

His first game in goal for the national team Szabó graduated in March 1932 in a 3-1 win against Czechoslovakia.
