Ante Jurić (bishop)

Ante Juric ( born May 17, 1922 in Vranjic, Yugoslavia, now part of Solin, Croatia, † March 20, 2012 in Pula, Croatia) was a Roman Catholic Archbishop of Split - Makarska.

Life

Ante Juric attended high school in Split. The seminary attended Ante Juric in Zagreb. The ordination took place on 18 May 1947 in his birthplace Vranjic, an island in the bay of Split. As a chaplain and pastor was Juric in the municipality of Desne (near Ploce ).

From 1953 to 1957 he was prefect and vice-rector in the Archbishop's Seminary Split - Makarska. From 1957-1963 Juric was rector of the Episcopal Seminary, ibid Spiritual 1968-1970. Starting 1978, Ante Juric pastoral duties as a parish priest, Dean and Vicar in Makarska.

Ante Juric was appointed by Pope John Paul II to the Archbishop of Split - Makarska, on 10 September 1988. He received his episcopal consecration of his predecessors Frane Franić on 16 October 1988. Were co-consecrators Marijan Oblak, Archbishop of Zadar, and Marko Jozinović, Archbishop of Sarajevo. His episcopate was marked by the upheavals in Croatia and the former Yugoslavia.

On 21 June 2000 Pope John Paul II accepted the resignation of age-related Ante Juric.
