Anthem of the Karelo-Finnish Soviet Socialist Republic

After the invasion of the Soviet Union to Finland and forced cession of parts of western Karelia it was Soviet policy to emphasize in addition to the political and cultural independence of these territories against Finland. With the establishment of Karelo- Finnish Soviet Socialist Republic on 31 March 1940, the need to create its own anthem for this constituent republic of the Soviet Union was formed. Words and Music

The Finnish-language lyrics were written by Armas Äikiä, the music of Karl Rautio. The text is still strongly influenced by the Second World War. With the dissolution of Karelo- Finnish Soviet Socialist Republic and its incorporation into the Russian SFSR on July 16, 1956, the anthem was de facto abolished.
