Anthy-sur-Léman

Anthy- sur -Léman is a commune in the French department of Haute- Savoie department in the Rhône-Alpes region.

Geography

Anthy- sur- Léman Hotel is located at 400 m above sea level. M., 5 km west-southwest of the town of Thonon -les- Bains ( straight line ). The village extends slightly above the south bank of Lake Geneva, in the region of Bas -Chablais.

The area of ​​4.62 km ² municipal area includes a section on the south bank of Lake Geneva, the lake shore line is about 3.5 km. The municipal area extends from the shallow lake shore southward over a gently rising slope down to the subsequent plateau of the Bas -Chablais. History

The area around Anthy- sur -Léman was inhabited very early. The oldest traces derived from two riparian settlements from the Neolithic period. Some wall foundations remain of a Roman vicus, which was inhabited during the period from the 2nd to the 4th century AD. In 1973 merged Anthy- sur- Léman to Thonon -les- Bains. This merger was made ​​in 1982 but reversed, so that the place again since then forms an independent municipality.

Population

With 1953 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011), who call themselves Les Anthychois, Anthy- sur -Léman one of the smaller towns in the Haute-Savoie region.
