Antichthon

Antichthon is an annual magazine that is published by the Australasian Society for Classical Studies.

The magazine was launched in 1967 and is the publication of research on the ancient world devoted in the broadest sense. Although the emphasis is on research contributions to the Greek and Roman world, the content sheet is significantly more expansive and includes the broader Middle East and the Mediterranean, from the beginnings of cultural development to the early Middle Ages.

Thematically research results and studies on ancient languages, literature, history and intellectual history and the archeology and the historical auxiliary sciences are considered. Reviews are generally not included in the repertoire of the magazine, but every now and then systematic reviews, development and advancement in certain scientific fields of research or summarize published. Also, there are books that are entirely tied to a particular topic. Scientists from all countries are invited to submit their work to the journal. Publication language is English.

By 2011 published Volume 45 was introduced as a new feature, Articles preceded by an abstract, which is also published on the website of the Australasian Society and is jahrgangsweise available there.
