Antipas of Pergamum

Antipas of Pergamum ( † about 92 in Ephesus ) was an early Christian who is mentioned in the Book of Revelation.

In the Revelation of John ( 2:13 NIV ) Antipas (gr. " against all " ) is called a " faithful witness ". There will also be noted that Antipas of Pergamos, " where Satan dwells ", had died as a martyr. According to legend, Antipas suffered martyrdom under the Emperor Domitian, by being thrown into a red-hot brazen oxen that served the local population to the expulsion of demons.

Antipas is venerated as a saint. His feast day is April 11. He is called by believers to cure toothache. He was possibly the basilica in the Red Hall in Pergamon or one of the two corresponding circular buildings consecrated.
