Antoine Gombaud

Antoine Gombaud (* 1607 in Poitou, † December 29, 1684 ), known as Chevalier de Méré was a French writer, gentleman and players.

With it, the mathematical calculation of gambling is connected. According to him, the De - Méré paradox was named. In 1654 he turned to Blaise Pascal, because he had no more success with his gambling. With the help of Pierre de Fermat, the odds of two dice games were accurately determined.
