Antoinette du Ligier de la Garde Deshoulières

Deshoulières Antoinette, nee De Ligier de la Garde ( * January 1, 1638 in Paris, † February 17, 1694 ) was a French poet and philosopher.

Life

Deshoulières was added to the Académie d' Arles in 1689. So she was the first woman who was taken in France in an academy. In the troubles of the Fronde, she followed her husband, who had Louis II de Bourbon- Condé connected to Flanders. Upon her return, she played a major role in French literature under the name Amaryllis. They were also called " the tenth Muse" and " French Calliope ".

Her daughter Antoinette Thérèse Deshoulières (1662-1718) was also a well-known poet.
