Anton von Rosas

Anton Edler von Rosas ( born December 23, 1791 in Pecs, Hungary, † May 31, 1855 in Vienna ) was an Austrian medical doctor who dealt specifically with ophthalmology.

Life

Anton Rosas studied from 1806 to 1811 at the University of Pest, and then at the University of Vienna, where he became a Doctor of Medicine and Master of ophthalmology, 1816 Doctor of Surgery 1814. After Rosas was an assistant at Georg Joseph Beer at the first of this is founded ended Department of Ophthalmology of the world in general hospital. 1819 Rosas went temporarily to the University of Padua, where he reformed the local eye clinic before he was successor to the late 1821 Beer in Vienna. The Vienna University Ophthalmology he directed until 1853. 1836 Rosas was knighted. After his death he was buried at the St. Marx Cemetery. The Rosasgasse facility in Vienna in 1894 was named after him.

Importance

The services include Rosas improvements, such as the establishment of a full-year out-patient clinic at his clinic, the production of wax models of various eye diseases and the expansion of the Library at the clinic. He was considered an excellent teacher and surgeon and also joined a writer out.
