Antoni Lliteres Carrió

Antonio de Literes, also known as Antonio Lliteres Carrio ' or, Antonio Carrión Literes ' ( born June 18, 1673 Arta Mallorca, † January 18, 1747 in Madrid) was a Spanish composer and cellist.

Life

Antonio de Literes enjoyed great reputation in his own lifetime as the creator of sacred and secular music. He is one next to Sebastián Durón (1660-1716) and José de Nebra (1702-1768) the most important composers of Spanish theater music of this era.

His musical career began in 1688 with the entry into the children's choir of the College Capilla Real in Madrid. After graduating from the Conservatory "Real Colegio de Niños Ricos Canto ", where he was taught in composition and harmony he finds a job as principal cellist in 1693 at the Capilla Real. First composition work of stage works follow in 1697. During the War of Succession ( 1700-1713 ), he is appointed in 1706 after his predecessor Exilliierung Sebastián Durón Kapellmeister of the institution. Among his most successful works include the opera, Los elementos ' (ca. 1718) and the zarzuela, Acis y Galatea ' (1708 ) and, Jupiter y Semele ', which premiered on May 9, 1718, Madrid on " Teatro de la Cruz " was and was during weeks of stock. Many of his works are written by the Spanish writer José de Cañizares ( 1676-1750 ). Antonio de Literes is father of two musicians of the Royal Court Orchestra in Madrid, José Literes y Sánchez ( † 1746 ) and Antonio Literes y Montalbo († 1768).
