Antonia (gens)
The assets antonia, German Antonier, in the autonomous Anthony was an important plebeian family in the Roman Empire. The family led their lineage back to Anteon, a son of the god Hercules.

The Emperor Gordian I, Gordian II and Gordian III. ( Emperor 238-244 ) are also among the Antoniern, but were not directly related to the Republican politicians. The Antonine ( Nerva Antoniner and Serverer, Emperor between 97-235 ) have only adoptive relation to the family. The freedmen ( Patron in brackets) include:
