Antonie Waterloo

Anthonie Waterloo ( * before May 6, 1609 in Lille and Utrecht; † after 1676 in Utrecht) was a Dutch painter and etcher.

At age 21, Waterloo was recorded in 1619 by the Guild of St. Luke of his hometown as a member. Lived a long time and worked in a house located between Waterloo Maarssen and Breukelen near Utrecht. There he repeatedly visited January Weenix and helped him in the completion of some landscapes, turning them ausstaffierte with figures and animals.

At the age of about 70 years, Waterloo, died in 1670 in St. Job Hospital Utrecht.

From Waterloo oil paintings only a few are known. Of his etchings you can still 136 sheets unequivocally ascribe Waterloo today. In these etchings Waterloo themed repeatedly nature. Especially in his forest scenes he executed with the utmost precision, his feeling for nature shows.
