Antonio Cardile

Antonio Cardile ( born February 26, 1914 in Tarentum, † December 9, 1986 in Rome) was an Italian painter, sculptor of the modern movement of the Roman school of painting.

Life and work

In 1925 he moved with his family from Taranto to Florence. Graduated at the Accademia di Belle Arti Firenze with Felice Carena and the engraver Celestino Celestini he placed at the beginning of Mostre Sindacali at his work at union exhibitions on display. During the Second World War and after a war prison, he moved to Rome, where he had joined immediately the Roman school of painting. In the last years of his life, he initiated the figurative art of his nephew, the artist Joseph Pace, the mid-1980s in Paris by " le filtranisme " a neoexistencialistische, philosophical and artistic movement founded.

In 1936 he presented his "one man shows " at the Palazzo Pitti in Florence and in the Palace of Expositions in Rome as well as in galleries in Rome ( la Tartaruga ). He also took part in exhibitions at this time along with Giorgio De Chirico, Luigi Capogrossi, Domenico Purifocato, Giulio Turcato part ..
