Antonio de Pereda

Antonio Pereda ( * 1611 in Valladolid, † 1678 in Madrid) was a Spanish painter.

Pereda was trained at Pedro de las Cuevas and studied at the Venetian paintings in the palace of Madrid and painted religious paintings, secular history paintings and still life with great care and splendor of coloring.

His main works are:

  • The allegory: the life of a dream ( in the Academy of San Fernando )
  • A sacred Hieronymus ( in the Museo del Prado in Madrid )
  • A holy Ildefonso with the Madonna ( in the Louvre in Paris).
