Antonio Squarcialupi

Antonio Squarcialupi (also Sguarcialupi, Antonio degli Organi or Scharcialupi; actually Antonio del Besa; * March 27, 1416 in Florence, † July 6, 1480 ) was an Italian organist and composer.

Life

Not much is known about the life Squarcialupis, his work was at that time but of no small importance. At the age of 20 he already got a job as organist in Florence's Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore, the life he paused. He soon became famous as the "Master of the Organ" and gave his favourer Lorenzo I de ' Medici music lessons. Not entirely clear is the question of whether Heinrich Isaac Squarcialupis was a student. In some sources he is also known as an organ builder.
