Antonio Stoppani

Antonio Stoppani ( born August 24, 1824 in Lecco, † 1 January 1891 in Milan ) was an Italian geoscientists and the founder of the Italian geological research.

Life

Antonio Stoppani - a large maternal uncle of Maria Montessori - is said to have at a young age to a five-day revolt against the Austrian occupation of Milan ( Cinque Giornate 18 - March 22, 1848 ) are involved. In 1848 he was ordained a priest. From 1861 he taught as a professor at the University of Pavia. Stoppani worked at the Polytechnic University of Milan in 1861 as a professor.
