Antonio Tapia

Antonio Tapia Flores ( born November 13, 1949 in Baena, Córdoba Province ) is a Spanish football manager and former player, who has trained many Spanish teams.

Playing career

The career as a football player by Antonio Tapia was not spectacular and was very short. In addition to the amateur club CD Fuengirola he briefly played with Atlético malagueño, like FC Málaga was called before being renamed in 1994.

Coaching career

Amateur and assistant coach

After the end of his career as a player he became a coach in the amateur club CD Mijas already with 27 years. After three years, the native Andalusians took over his former club CD Fuengirola for which he was already active as a player. After another station in a " no-name " club 1994 he became an assistant coach at the División in the Segunda B crashed Málaga CF for which he also played himself. After two years he left the club to work at FC Cadiz also as an assistant coach.

Poli Ejido

As head coach Antonio Tapia took over in the summer of 1997 the Tercera División - Club Deportivo Poli Ejido. With the Andalusians he climbed twice on consecutive and managed in the years 2000 and 2001 through March from the fourth to the second Spanish league. Málaga CF

In summer 2002 Antonio Tapia took over the second team of FC Malaga, which he led straight into the Segunda División, holding in the league. Thanks to this performance he received for the 2005/2006 season the post of head coach at the first team of FC Malaga entrusted. But in the first division he could not stop the unprecedented crash of his team and was released after the first round (his team had lost 1:3 at Espanyol ). At the end of the season was a disappointing last place to book.

The last years

For the season 2006/2007 Antonio Tapia returned to his former workplace Polideportivo Ejido. The relegation candidates he led to a sovereign mid-table. In the 2007/2008 season he coached the ambitious second division side FC Granada 74 with which he División completely surprising in the Segunda B descent, which is why he was fired. However, because the previous coach of FC Malaga, Muniz, went to the first division side Racing Santander, Antonio Tapia got the opportunity to his former club Málaga to train in the first division, where he signed a one year contract with an option for a further year in the summer of 2008.
