António Teixeira de Sousa

António Teixeira de Sousa ( born May 5, 1857 in Celeirós, Portugal, † June 5, 1917 in Porto ) was a politician from the period of the constitutional monarchy in Portugal. It was 1910, the last prime minister of the monarchy.

Life

1883 ended Teixeira de Sousa his training as a physician at the Medical-Surgical School of Porto (now the Faculty of Medicine, University of Porto ). He then worked as a medical practitioner, including in the army and the civil service. He was a member of the Regeneration party and held towards the end of the monarchy, a number of high public office, he was Minister of Finance in 1906 from 1903 to 1904 and again a year. Later he headed the Ministry of Interior. On 26 June 1910 he was appointed by King Emanuel II as head of government. The revolution of early October 1910 which ended the Portuguese monarchy, ended his reign.
