Apartment spell, even in the spelling Apartment magic, is a German musical film directed by Helmuth M. Backhaus from the year 1963.

Action

By the will of his parents Karl Fischer is the young Almut Behringer marry. Her father owns the thriving transport company Behringer, at the Karl's father Waldemar must pay enormous sums annually as a dealer. With a marriage, Waldemar calculates that family could save a lot of money. Karl, however, flees from Almut as soon as he sees it, and so decide Waldemar and Almut, Karl for a year in a branch of the company to send in Italy. Here he learns the company and thus also appreciate Almut. Shelter he is in one of the new apartment buildings of the company that have three rooms per apartment. They are always rented to three women or three men either. Almuts father ordered a room for Karl. As he speaks indistinct, understands the caretaker of the apartment building Rochus valerian, that the order for a certain Karla received. Charles moves in with his arrival in a women's apartment, and his new roommate Karin and Elfi are unenthusiastic. Since Karl is now reported to the authorities as Karla, valerian can not make up for his mistake too. Karl is again impressed by the location, because he has fallen in love with Elfi. Since they sometimes comes too late to work again, she is released on the first day of Charles's arrival. The only job that is offered to her as a foreigner in Italy, is a barmaid in Ninos establishment. Of necessity, it takes the work, even if it is their contrary, in provocative clothes to use drunken men. Nino makes it also clear advances.

Karl tries meanwhile in vain to win the friendship of the two women. He organized the evening a sumptuous dinner, but let him stand Karin and Elfi. In a later attempt to surprise both women with supper, none of the women appear. Elfi has to work while Karin has been found in the crazy inventor Thomas Butterfield Jr. a lover who can be his friend and patron Mabel for them. Only valerian makes Karl society. It is he who a little later warns the unlikely trio that the moral police has learned that Karin and Elfi share with a man's apartment. Without further ado, Karl will be clad in Karla and plays his role so well that the customs commissioner not noticed the trick. While closer to Karl and Elfi, draw at home Almut and Waldemar suspicion that something is wrong. You go to Italy and find Karl and Elfi together on the beach before. Elfi is disappointed when she realizes that Charles is married with Almut. The however, it lags behind and tells her that the engagement is done against his will. A little later follow Karl and Badrian Elfie secretly in Ninos bar, where rescues Karl Elfi before Nino who wants to seduce her. Karl and Elfi reconcile and there is a happy ending

Production

The film Apartment spell, which is based on an idea by Ilona Häbe was shot in the ateliers of Filmservis Ljubljana / Portoroz. The costumes created Ingrid Neugebauer, the buildings were designed by Niko Matul. The film was released in Germany on 20 December 1963.
