The bins lily ( Aphyllanthes monspeliensis ), also called Blue rush, is the only species of the genus Aphyllanthes and forms its own subfamily Aphyllanthoideae in the family of asparagus plants ( Asparagaceae ). It is native to the western Mediterranean.

Description

The bins lily is a perennial herbaceous plant. This xerophyte makes short rhizomes as outlasting. The simple leaves are reduced and accumulated at the base of the plants.

The inflorescences are wenigblütig or the flowers are individually. The hermaphrodite, radial symmetry blooms are triple. The six arranged bloom ( tepals ) are blue and fused at the base into a short tube. There are six stamens present. The three carpels are fused into a superior ovaries. It forms capsule fruits.
