Ovary (botany)

As an ovary or ovaries is called in botany the bulbous part of the stamp, in which the ovule is added to the eggs. One ovary is unique to angiosperms.

Description

After fertilization of the ovum by the generative nucleus of the pollen tube in the ovule of the ovary developed the plant embryo that is enclosed in the seed. From the ovary wall often the pulp developed in the maturation of the fruit, such as in Cherry.
