Apicius (1st century BC)

Apicius was a Roman gourmets. The extravagant luxury of his revelry and feasting was exceeded in the 90s of the first century BC by anyone in Rome. After Posidonius Apicius caused the banishment of Publius Rutilius Rufus, a historian who was known for the simplicity of his table.

Apicius was apparently not a gentile name, but an epithet, the two other Roman gourmet contributed, namely Marcus Gavius Apicius Apicius and another of the 2nd century. Whether this name means " gourmet " received by him or already had a corresponding meaning is not entirely clear. It is conceivable, " bald " as a meaning of the nickname (of APICA " sheep that the wool has no belly " and apiciosus " bald head ").
