Apolinor Jiménez

Apolinor Jiménez ( born January 20, 1944 in Paraguarí ) is a retired Paraguayan soccer player at the position of the goalkeeper. He won in the course of his active career seven league titles (six in Paraguay and one in Mexico).

Life

Jiménez went through the junior level his home club Sudamérica de Paraguarí and received his first professional contract with the club Olimpia early 1962, where he was a two-stage more than 15 years under contract and with whom he won six league titles.

In 1973, he joined the Mexican Primera División, where he stood first in the CD Cruz Azul and then at Puebla FC under contract.

After a one-year stopover at the Colombian first division side Independiente Medellín Jiménez returned to his homeland, where he was under contract in 1979 for the second division Capitán Figari, with which he succeeded in becoming the premier league right away. He spent the next five seasons at the club Olimpia again before he could finish the 1985 Argentine first division team San Lorenzo his active career.

Since 2001, Jiménez has worked as a goalkeeping coach at youth level of the Club Libertad.

  • Paraguayan champions (6 ): 1962, 1965, 1968, 1971, 1980 and 1982 (each with Olimpia de Asunción )
